Halloween Brownie Graveyard
It’s ‘spooky’ how easy this Halloween Brownie Graveyard is to make. A fun treat decorated with Milano cookie headstones, brownie graves, chocolate skeletons and green grass frosting. This haunting edible treat could be a great centerpiece for your Halloween parties.

Table of contents
I mean, when it comes to the Halloween spooky treats that I have made, this one is up there and one of my favorite fun halloween recipes. A rectangle shaped brownie is the perfect shape for a 3 grave, graveyard.
You can use my easy brownie recipe, your favorite brownie recipe, or use a box of brownie mix, the choice is yours. Halloween baking fun is all in the decorating. Everyone loves fudgy chocolate brownies, why not turn them into something fun?

How to Make a Brownie Graveyard
First, make the brownie dirt. Bake a rectangular brownie in a 9 x 13-inch (23 x 28 cm) baking dish (pictured below). Then, chisel out 3 graves from the top of the brownie. Use the leftover crumbs to create mounds of dirt. If you need more dirt, crumble Oreo cookies.

How to Make Chocolate Skeletons
Melt white chocolate and pour it into skeleton molds to set. The mold is inexpensive and available on Amazon or at craft stores. The bones come separate, so you can arrange them in different ways in the brownie dirt. If you find pre-made candy skeletons, use them instead.

How to Make Cookie Tombstones
The tombstones/headstones are made using Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies. Their shape are perfect for this and I made black icing of confectioners sugar and black food coloring to coat them and give them a ‘stone’ look. I then piped ‘RIP’ in melted chocolate. Any oval cookies will work if you can’t find Milano’s.

How to Make Grass Frosting
Green frosting (using white frosting that has green food color added) is piped using a 234 piping tip.
Graveyard halloween brownies are a fun activity that your kids can help make (and eat) and will have so much fun doing it.
Serving spooky graveyard brownies
You can either prepare the graveyard in the prepared pan, or turn it out onto a larger serving platter. Either way, they are both easy to transport and it can sit a room temperature until it’s time to slice this large pan of brownies.
Optional Additions
Add some gummy worms or candy pumpkins.
Leftover Brownies
If you have any leftovers, you can wrap them up individually in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Halloween Brownie Graveyard

This Halloween brownie graveyard, is a fun and edible centerpiece for a spook-tacular party. A large brownie has graves cut out and then decorated with headstones and scary chocolate skeletons.
Ingredients
- For the brownie:
- 1 1/2 sticks (170 grams) unsalted butter
- 16 ounces (453 grams) semi-sweet chocolate
- 2 cups (400 grams) granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups (296 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
For the tombstones:
- 1 cup (200 grams) confectioners sugar
- 4 teaspoons milk
- Black food coloring
- 3 oval shaped cookies
- Semi-sweet chocolate, melted
For the skeletons:
- 3 ounces (75 grams) white chocolate, melted
- Skeleton bones candy mold
- To assemble:
- 1-16 ounce (450 gram) tub store-bought vanilla frosting
- Green food coloring
Instructions
For the brownie:
- Preheat oven to 325°F/165°C.
- Grease a 9 x 13-inch (23 x 33 cm) glass baking dish and line with parchment paper.
- Using a double boiler, or heatproof bowl over saucepan of water, heat butter and chocolate over low heat until melted, stirring gently. Turn of heat when melted, but keep bowl over saucepan to keep mixture warm.
- Mix the sugar into the butter and chocolate.
- In a separate mixing bowl, lightly beat the eggs and vanilla together. Add the eggs to the chocolate mixture and stir until fully mixed. Add the flour and baking powder to the chocolate mixture and mix until you can no longer see any flour. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan, then remove using parchment paper to lift out.
- For the tombstones:
- In a bowl, mix the confectioners sugar with the milk until smooth.
- Add black food coloring (I used a toothpick to add a very small amount), in small amounts until a stone grey color is achieved.
- Smooth over the cookies and allow to dry on a cooling rack.
For the skeletons:
- Pour the melted white chocolate into the skeleton mold and refrigerate until hardened then remove from mold.
To assemble:
- Place brownie on a cutting board.
- Cut 3 graves measuring 2 1/4 x 5 inch (6 x 13 cm) in the brownie evenly spaced.
- Using a fork, rake out the brownie so it crumbles like soil, put into a bowl. Mound the 'soil' back into the 'graves'. Arrange skeleton parts in and around the 'graves'.
- Using a sharp knife, cut a small area of brownie out at the head of the graves and insert cookies into the brownie.
- In a mixing bowl, add the frosting and a few drops of green food coloring to achieve the desired color.
- Add to a piping bag using piping tip 233 and pipe 'grass' around the graves.
