Family Weekend Recap

I’m back from my family weekend and only a little sunburned, yay!

My US relatives came up for a visit this weekend–we haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving of last year. It was nice to see my aunt and cousins again, though we didn’t really do much.

I introduced my cousin to spicy pad thai (he loved it!) and we watched that new Star Trek movie in the theaters–it was a really great movie, I was totally riveted the whole time!

On Sunday the whole family came over and we had some delicious BBQ and Mississippi Mud Pie. Yummmm. Then my dad drove me back to the city, with my aunt tagging along. I gave her a quick tour of my apartment because she had never seen it before.

After she left I tried to get myself a little bit more organized–On Thursday I’m heading out to a spiritual retreat/festival type thing which involves camping in a tent while you are there. Eep!

I can’t even remember the last time I went camping, I wonder how I’m going to hold up this time! Luckily my dad and brother go camping from time to time, so I am able to borrow all the equipment I will need.

OMG there’s a TON of stuff. I had no idea you would need so much junk to go camping! But I guess it’s pretty much like bringing your home with you, in smaller, portable and more multi-purpose pieces. My list of things to bring is literally 3 pages long… but that includes clothing and all the little things like suncreen and hand sanitizer.

I’m getting pretty excited to go to this thing. There’s going to be a Voodoo ritual one night, and sweat lodges all weekend, so I’ll definitely be able to experience one! My hope though is that the weather holds out… I don’t want it to be too hot, nor cold and rainy!

I’ll probably work on a few posts and get them scheduled for while I am away, but no guarantees–the last 3 times I scheduled something on blogger it totally failed to post them! Boo!

Keep your eyes peeled for the next giveaway on Wednesday, and remember that you can still enter for the Amazon gift certificate until July 29th! 🙂
