Cellphone Issues – Rogers

*sigh*
I renegotiated my brother’s cell phone bill with Rogers back in October. He’s supposed to be getting free unlimited incoming calls and the free communicate pack. That’s $21 in savings every month.

In exchange I agreed to extend his contract by a year.

Do you think that Rogers actually followed through with their promises?

If you guessed a big fat NO then you would be right! I’m on the phone right now, sitting through their automated messages so I can reach customer retention to sort this out.

I’ve been on hold for over 24 minutes now. I’ve been timing it! And it’s getting quite ridiculous, too. I don’t know whether the office is actually closed, or if they’re really busy and I still have to wait. All the message tells me (over and over again) is to call another number if I can’t wait, and select the “cancel service” option. I’d do that, but I don’t want to cancel, just to talk to a human and get them to refund me the money they erroneously charged me.

Stupid Rogers. Why are you so shitty? Phone companies suck.

  1. I hate the hold times at Rogers, and I’ve been thinking of switching … but in the end, Rogers still has the best coverage for where I travel to, and I have an awesome rate plan, so I’m sticking with them. Also, I’m sticking with them because I have a 4 year contract. 🙂

  2. Krystal: It’s pretty much the same with me. I have internet bundled with them too and get a further discount, so it’s usually not so bad.

I finally got through after about 33 minutes on hold, and the woman credited me for the months they overcharged and she said she applied the discounts to the remaining months on the contract as discussed. Hopefully everything will stick this time, otherwise I’m in for another game of phone-tree-tag :S

  3. hmmm I have NEVER had a problem with rogers, other than their website blows severely. I have my10 with them and can NEVER update it online and then get some sass when I call in to get a customer service person to do it (“you know you can do this on our website” NO I CANT DUMBASS!). But other than that, I have had good luck with them. I once had a horrifically large cell bill with them (over $800) as I was in the states and my 9cents a minute plan doesn’t work in TWO COUNTIES in the US and who knew I was in one of them for work for two months??!! I called nearly in tears and they comped me for it and just said don’t do it again because they won’t bail me out again. So, I’d have to say I can’t complain. I used to be with telus and oh my, TALK ABOUT INCOMPETENCE!

great blog, I’m new here but I’ll be back!

  4. You wouldn’t believe what a hassle I’ve been through with Bell. Too long and frustrating to get into, but basically they couldn’t get their act together after I moved to shut off my landline and move my internet to my new apartment. Took probably 3 weeks, 5 phone calls, a different story from every person I spoke with and it added up to about 4 hours on the phone what with hold times and all that. I wanted to cancel, but after all that trouble, I didn’t have it in me to switch to another company. I got a free month out of it, but ugh, makes me mad just thinking about it again.
